Supporting the local community.

Skegness Town AFC will once again be host for the governments 'Holiday Activities and Food programme 2022' aka the HAF programme.

The UK Government, in partnership with Step Out - Stay Out, will offer holiday activities and food to support children in receipt of free school meals through holiday periods. Skegness Town AFC will be the venue again this Christmas, as it was such a success in Summer.

It is very easy to apply for your child to be registered. Simply sign up on www.HolidayActivities.com or if you have issues doing that, email HAF@lincolnshire.gov.uk Places are limited to 35 children per day, and fill up quickly.

Research has shown that the school holidays can be pressure points for some families. And for some children, this can lead to a holiday experience gap, with children from low-income households being:

  • Less likely to access organised out-of-school activities
  • More likely to experience ‘unhealthy holidays’ in terms of nutrition and physical health
  • More likely to experience social isolation

The Governments HAF programme is a response to this issue, with evidence showing that free holiday clubs can have a positive impact on children and young people.

In 2021, the HAF programme supported hundreds of thousands of children and their families throughout the Easter, Summer and Christmas school holidays. In 2022 Skegness Town Football Club got involved and provided a safe environment and healthy meals at our ground for the local children needing this support.

It is the intent of Step Out - Stay Out, following government guidelines, to provide healthy eating, and sports activities, engaging and enriching the lives of children in our local area.
