Major LED Floodlight Upgrade Completed

Major LED Floodlight Upgrade Completed

Dale Houlston14 Jun - 23:00

Skegness Town receives substantial Premier League Stadium Fund Support grant.

Skegness Town FC has completed a major infrastructure improvement at the MKM Stadium following the installation of a new LED floodlighting system, made possible through support from the Premier League Stadium Fund.

The project, which cost more than £25,000, received a grant covering 70 per cent of the total investment from the Premier League Stadium Fund. The funding enabled the club to replace its ageing floodlights with a modern, energy-efficient LED system that will serve the club for years to come.

The previous floodlights had become increasingly weathered after years of service, while the traditional lamps had a relatively short lifespan and were becoming increasingly expensive to replace and maintain. The move to LED technology provides brighter, more consistent illumination across the pitch, while significantly reducing energy consumption and ongoing maintenance costs.

In addition to improving visibility for players, match officials and supporters, the new installation will help the club operate more sustainably and reduce long-term expenditure on replacement lamps and repairs.

Dale Houlston, speaking on behalf of Skegness Town FC, said:

"The replacement of our floodlights has been a priority for some time. The existing system had become weathered, and the old-style lamps had a relatively short lifespan and were costly to replace.

"With the total investment exceeding £25,000, the 70 per cent grant from the Premier League Stadium Fund was instrumental in making this project possible. We are extremely grateful for their support.

"The new LED floodlights provide excellent coverage of the playing surface, improve the experience for everyone attending matches, and will deliver significant savings through reduced energy use and maintenance requirements. It is an investment that will benefit the club both now and in the future."

The Premier League Stadium Fund supports clubs throughout the National League System by providing grants towards facility improvements, helping clubs modernise their grounds and create sustainable facilities for future generations.

The completion of the floodlight project represents another important step in Skegness Town FC's ongoing commitment to improving facilities at the MKM Stadium and providing the best possible environment for football in the town.

The club would like to place on record its sincere thanks to the Premier League Stadium Fund for its invaluable support in helping deliver the project.
