Skegness Town 1 - 1 Lincoln United

Skegness Town 1 - 1 Lincoln United

Dale Houlston16 Aug - 22:03

FA Cup preliminary round goes to a replay

A good performance against newly promoted step 4 opposition, Lincoln United, ensured that The FA Cup journey continues.

After weathering some early Lincoln United pressure, the Lilywhites started to make their mark on the game with the ball, and started to ask questions of the opponents defenders. And we took the lead in the 29th minute, when after good pressure from our forwards, and a couple of blocked shots, the ball finally fell to Declan Johnson who found the net to put us in the lead.

It looked like a second goal was on the cards in the 34th minute, when Luke Horne broke free of the Lincoln back line. As he neared the edge of the box he was fouled by the chasing Jaime Ture, who was then dismissed with a straight red card, for denying a clear goal scoring opportunity.

The first half finished with the Lilywhites in the lead to a single goal.

Chances were aplenty in the second half for Town, with the woodwork denying us from extending the lead on three occasions.

Lincoln found the equaliser on 69 minutes.

Town were forced to sustain further pressure from Lincoln United, but we kept them at bay, and the game finished 1-1.

Lineup: Lovelace, Rayner-Mistry, Houlston, Marshall, Parish, Dilley, Daykin, Parker, Horne, Adams, Johnson. Subs: Millar, Radford, Jackson, Collins, Smith, Boswell, Robinson.

The replay takes place on Tuesday night in Lincoln, and it is a 7:45pm kick off at Ashby Avenue.
