Skegness Town were edged out 3–2 by Hucknall Town in a dramatic opening-day encounter at the RM Stadium. The visitors started brightly and created the early chances, but Hucknall took the lead shortly before half-time through Trev Lindo.

Skegness responded immediately after the interval, with a header levelling the scores, and continued to threaten. However, a quickfire double from Edebe put the hosts 3–1 ahead. Skegness pulled another goal back late on from a low free-kick and pushed hard for an equaliser during five minutes of added time, but Hucknall held firm to claim all three points in front of 416 supporters.
