The Lilywhites Head to AFC Mansfield Looking to Build League Momentum

We return to United Counties League Premier Division North action on Tuesday evening as we make the trip to AFC Mansfield for our fourth league game of the season.

The Lilywhites will be looking to put the disappointment of our recent cup results behind us and return to winning ways as Gary King looks to build some early-season league momentum.

Four points from our opening three

We head into Tuesday night with four points from our opening three league fixtures.

Our campaign began with a narrow 3-2 defeat away at Hucknall Town before we responded with a 2-1 victory at home to Deeping Rangers.

We then played out an entertaining 2-2 draw against Hinckley AFC, leaving us with one win, one draw and one defeat from our opening three matches.

Seven goals from those three fixtures demonstrates that we have already shown plenty of attacking threat, but we will be looking to turn our competitive performances into more points as the league campaign develops.

Our opponents on Tuesday have also collected four points from their opening three league games.

AFC Mansfield began their league campaign with a 3-2 away victory at Aylestone Park, followed by a 3-3 draw away at Eastwood CFC.

They then suffered a 2-0 home defeat against Hucknall Town.

Like ourselves, Mansfield therefore have one win, one draw and one defeat from their opening three league fixtures.

Time to build some momentum

For Gary King and the Lilywhites, Tuesday night provides another opportunity to put points on the board.

We have already shown plenty of promise during the opening weeks of the season, but with four points from three games, we know there is plenty more to come from this squad.

The disappointing cup competitions have now been put to one side and our focus is firmly back on the league.

A victory at the Forest Town Arena would take us to seven points from our opening four league matches and give us a valuable platform from which to build.

We know it will be another difficult test, but we will travel to Mansfield determined to compete, battle for every ball and give everything to bring all three points back to Skegness.
