Skegness Town produced a stirring second-half comeback tonight, recovering from two separate deficits to beat Blackstones FC 4–2 at the end of an entertaining contest.

There were a couple of changes to the starting line-up from the previous game, with Luke Rayner-Mistry and Kyle Radford coming into the side in place of Matt Ward and Lucas Dakin. The remainder of the starting eleven was largely unchanged, with Jake Sykes continuing in goal behind Matt Clarke, Bailey Forth, captain Kieran Wressell, Liam Adams, Jordan Nuttell, Toby Cotton, Theo Kitt-Bushell and Josh Morrall.

The changes meant Lucas Dakin began on the bench, alongside Matt Ward, Declan Johnson, Conor Marshall and Jamie Robinson, with King opting to make adjustments as the game progressed.

It was Blackstones who made the brighter start, taking the lead after just nine minutes. Josh Sennett found the net to put the visitors 1–0 ahead and leave Town with work to do.

Skegness came close to an equaliser on 20 minutes when Kitt-Bushell had an opportunity to open his account. The new Lilywhites forward hesitated slightly with his effort, however, allowing Blackstones to get a block in at the near post.

There was no mistake from Kitt-Bushell twelve minutes later.

On 32 minutes, a ball into the Blackstones box was headed onwards by Liam Adams and fell nicely for Kitt-Bushell. This time there was no hesitation, as he headed the ball into the net to bring Town level at 1–1 and register his first goal for the club.

With half-time approaching, it looked as though the sides would go into the break level. Blackstones had other ideas, though, capitalising on a loose ball inside the Town box in the 43rd minute. Sennett was on hand to score his second of the evening and restore the visitors' advantage.

Town therefore went into the interval 2–1 down, despite having recovered once already.

The second half saw King make changes, with Lucas Dakin replacing Kitt-Bushell in the 51st minute. Declan Johnson then came on for Josh Morrall eight minutes later, before the experienced Conor Marshall replaced Toby Cotton on 61 minutes.

Town's attempts to get back into the game were briefly interrupted on 65 minutes when Jordan Nuttell suffered a head injury. The midfielder had to leave the field temporarily while the bleeding was stopped and his bloodied shirt was replaced.

Six minutes later, Town were indebted to Jake Sykes. With Blackstones threatening to extend their advantage, the Town goalkeeper produced a splendid save to keep the deficit at one. It was another example of the ability Sykes has shown during his short spell with the club.

At the other end, Dakin had a golden opportunity to level the scores on 74 minutes, but his effort went narrowly wide.

The equaliser did arrive a minute later.

On 75 minutes, Liam Adams delivered another dangerous cross into the box, and Declan Johnson rose highest to head the ball back across goal. His effort found its way into the net to make it 2–2 and complete Town's second comeback of the evening.

Having clawed their way back into the game, Skegness continued to apply pressure, and five minutes later they completed the turnaround.

Once again, Adams was involved, delivering a good cross into the box. This time it was Jordan Nuttell who made the most of it, rising to produce an excellent header that found the back of the net and put Town 3–2 ahead.

It was a particularly pleasing moment for Nuttell, who opened his goal scoring account for the club after having earlier been forced off temporarily following his head injury.

Blackstones now had a game to chase, while Town looked to make sure of the points.

They did exactly that in the 84th minute.

A neat passage of play ended with Declan Johnson providing the final pass for Lucas Dakin, who made no mistake this time. Dakin calmly finished the move to make it 4–2 to Town, adding another goal to his tally and extending his position as Skegness' leading goalscorer.

From 2–1 down at half-time, Town had turned the game completely around.

There had been frustration early on, with Blackstones twice finding a way through, but Skegness' response was ultimately the defining feature of the evening. Kitt-Bushell's first goal for the club brought Town level in the first half, before Johnson and Nuttell struck within five minutes of each other to turn the game on its head.

Dakin then put the seal on the comeback late on.
