Skegness Town return to league action this evening as the Lilywhites make the trip to face Blackstones in the United Counties League Premier Division North.
Following Saturday's impressive 4–1 victory away at West Bridgford Colts in the Sports Ground Development UCL Cup, Town will be looking to carry that momentum back into league football.
The victory in Nottingham saw Skegness race into a four-goal lead inside the opening 20 minutes, with Kyle Radford scoring twice alongside goals from Lucas Dakin and Theo Kitt-Bushell.
It was also a memorable evening for Jamie Potts, who made his first appearance of the season and produced a Man of the Match performance.
Tonight's fixture presents another opportunity for Gary King and his squad to build on that result, with league points the priority as Town look to climb the Premier Division North table.
Familiar opposition
There is already plenty of familiarity between the two sides this season.
Blackstones were visitors to the MKM Stadium earlier this month, when Town came from behind to record an entertaining 4–2 victory.
The visitors took the lead through Sennett before Kitt-Bushell levelled for Skegness. Blackstones restored their advantage shortly before half-time, but the Lilywhites produced an excellent second-half response.
Goals from Declan Johnson, Jordan Nuttell and Lucas Dakin completed the comeback and secured all three points for Town.
Blackstones will therefore be looking to reverse the result on home soil this evening.
Blackstones looking for a response
The hosts currently sit 15th in the Premier Division North with eight points from ten games, while Town occupy 11th place with 12 points from their opening nine league fixtures.
Blackstones' most recent league outing ended in a 3–1 defeat away at Leicester Nirvana on Saturday. They took an early lead but were ultimately beaten by three second-half goals.
Prior to that, Blackstones had secured a goalless draw away at Kimberley Miners Welfare, following a 3–1 defeat at Sherwood Colliery.
Their home record provides another reason for Town to expect a competitive contest. Blackstones have taken points in three of their four home league matches so far this season, including victories over Newark Town and an earlier home success.
Town aiming to build momentum
For Skegness, the challenge will be to reproduce the attacking quality shown in Nottingham while maintaining the discipline required to come away from Lincoln Road with another league result.
The Lilywhites have scored 16 goals in their nine league matches so far, while their three wins have all demonstrated their ability to find the net in important spells.
The recent 1–1 draw with Leicester Nirvana was followed by Saturday's emphatic cup victory, giving Town an opportunity to put together back-to-back positive results.
With another busy period of fixtures ahead, three points tonight would provide a valuable boost and potentially move the Lilywhites up the table.
But Blackstones will have their own motivation after suffering defeat in the reverse fixture, and Town know they will need to be at their best to come away with another victory.
Another league night under the lights. Another opportunity for the Lilywhites.
Come on, Town!
