Biography

Gary King is one of the most experienced figures at Skegness Town, bringing an outstanding footballing pedigree built over nearly two decades in both the professional and non-league game. A striker by trade, Gary began his career in the Lincoln City academy, where he progressed through the ranks before signing a professional contract and famously scoring on his first-team debut against Brentford. He later enjoyed a spell in the Football League with Accrington Stanley, adding to an impressive professional career.

Following his time in the Football League, Gary established himself as one of the region's most recognisable non-league forwards. Representing clubs including Boston United, Harrogate Town, Worksop Town, Stamford, Spalding United, Coalville Town, Lincoln United, Cleethorpes Town, Holbeach United and Frickley Athletic, he built a reputation as a prolific goalscorer, fierce competitor and respected leader wherever he played.

In recent years, Gary has become an integral part of the Skegness Town coaching team, combining his wealth of playing experience with a passion for developing the club both on and off the pitch. During the 2025/26 season, he served as joint manager alongside Chris Rawlinson, helping to guide the Lilywhites through another important chapter in the club's progression.

Ahead of the 2026/27 season, Gary took on the role of sole First Team Manager as part of a club restructure designed to bring greater clarity and accountability to the management of the first team. In his first appointment as a first-team manager, he has been entrusted with building a squad capable of competing at the right end of the United Counties League table while continuing the club's long-term development.

Although his primary focus is now on leading the team from the dugout, Gary has also registered as a player for the 2026/27 season, ensuring his vast experience and goalscoring pedigree remain available should the Lilywhites need to call upon him.
