The new teams will play their home matches from the MKM Stadium Lounge Bar, bringing competitive darts to the club and creating another opportunity for local players to represent Skegness Town FC.

Expressions of interest are now being invited from players who would like to become part of the new teams, with the club hoping to establish up to two teams for the upcoming winter league campaign.

A new chapter for the club

Committee organiser Kieran Dempsey believes the Lounge Bar is the perfect setting for the new venture.

“We have a fantastic lounge bar at the MKM Stadium, and perhaps having darts teams playing out of it is long overdue. It is a great venue and we hope to have as many as two teams representing the club.”

The introduction of darts is part of the club's wider ambition to make the MKM Stadium more than simply a destination for football.

The Lounge Bar already plays an important role on matchdays, providing a place for supporters, players and the wider football community to meet. The club now wants to build on that atmosphere throughout the week.

Kieran added:

“The football club becomes a real social hub on matchdays, but now, we would like to expand that even more with darts. And when the club is open during the evenings, anyone will be welcome to come along and enjoy the events, whether you are in the darts teams or not.”

Upgrading the darts area

With competitive league darts coming to the MKM Stadium, the club is also planning improvements to its darts facilities.

“We will obviously be upgrading our dartboard area, to give players the best playing experience.”

The improvements will help create a dedicated and more fitting environment for the teams to compete from, while adding another attraction to the Lounge Bar during evening events.

Represent Skegness Town FC

The club is now looking to hear from darts players interested in representing Skegness Town FC in the Skegness Winter Darts League.

With the potential for two teams to be formed, the launch represents an exciting opportunity for players to become part of something new at the club, competing in local league darts while wearing the red and white of Skegness Town.

And importantly, the darts nights won't just be for those standing at the oche.

The club wants the Lounge Bar to become a place where supporters, friends, family and members of the local community can come along, enjoy the atmosphere and watch the teams compete.
